Mason,
I am certain that there will be hard times, but I also know that with a lot of prayer and even fasting, things will get better. Please know that you are in our prayers constantly, and that we are very proud of you.

Mason I'm so sorry you've had a rough week!!!! It breaks my heart, really. I can only imagine how hard it would be to be so far away from home, and have to learn another language and adjust to a totally different culture. Hang in there!!!! You are most certainly in our thoughts and prayers. Have the fleas gotten any better? That right there would make it hard for me to learn Spanish (or anything else for that matter). Seriously. You have bunches of people praying for you, so I have total faith that things WILL GET BETTER.

Sending lots of love,
Julie (and Tom)

Oh my dear! I'm feeling so sad for you, but I know you can push through this. You have done it many times while playing sports and you can do it now while doing something so important. I know it is hard and I want things to work better for you. I was on Temple Square yesterday and saw a Sister missionary with the Chile flag hanging from her name tag. So I talked to her and told her about you and where you are serving and that you were discouraged about the language. She laughed and said, "If I can learn English [and she spoke extremely well], he can learn Spanish. She added that in the north of Chile they speak very fast, drop the "s" on the end of words and use a lot of slang so it will be more difficult than usual. But she said, "Be patient. It will come and by the time you are out a year you will be fluent in the language." She advised that you be kind to yourself and not worry about the Spanish so much because it will come. She was very beautiful. We love you, Mason, and know you will be able to do what you have been called and set apart to do.

Love & Cheers,
Grandma Cable
